INTRODUCTION
The Oversoul is inspired by the eponymous 1841 Ralph Waldo Emerson essay. Both the essay and artwork posit that human connection emerges through individuality, not in spite of it – and that the world is profoundly affected by the moral choices of the human being.
Apocalypse Studio’s Oversoul contains 144 1/1 animated portraits that together form one giant mosaic. All 144 portraits began as physical paintings (acrylic on panel) and were animated with code and apps. Physicals will be available to collectors at their option.
The Oversoul explores themes of light and dark, fate and choice, freedom and compulsion. What connects all the individual portraits is what also connects us: we are born into this mysterious drama, this enormous work of art where each individual must make choices and follow their path.
The 144 single animations comprise one giant, contiguous animation mosaic. Elements such as lightning, smoke, clouds, and grass span between portraits, connecting each portrait with its neighbors and representing a community of distinct individuals. This artwork is arguably the first of its kind and scale.
Each portrait is a 4K (3840x2160 px) looping GIF. Each artwork optionally comes with its physical counterpart, an acrylic painting on wooden panel. All 144 portraits in their mosaic configuration will be revealed at Marfa 2025, as well as full drop mechanics and timing for this release.
Below are some of the portraits. If you would like a private exclusive viewing of all the artworks before release, please DM Apocalypse on X or email apoc@apocalypse.art.
THE 1/1 | OVERSOUL
The Oversoul comprises 144 1/1s that altogether make up one larger artwork. The mosaic will be publicly revealed at Marfa this year, but you can get a sneak peak; just contact Apoc on X (@apocalypticform).
Press play in the video below to see a pan of a small section of the mosaic.
HOW TO COLLECT
To reserve your Oversoul portrait, collect THE INVITATION, our presale token. All holders of THE INVITATION will be able to select and reserve the portrait of their choice. You'll also receive THE INVITATION, a separate artwork, as a 1/1/X.
All portraits are available for private viewing now (DM Apoc on X or email apoc@apocalypse.art). The portraits and the Oversoul mosaic will be publicly revealed at Marfa this year (October 16 - 18, 2025).
RELEASE STRUCTURE AND MECHANIC
Pre-sales of the Oversoul Portraits have just begun. Reserve a token now and you'll be able to choose your piece before we open up sales to the public. The mechanics we're using to launch the Oversoul are simple to start with: what comes with the sale of the Invitation token is the ability to pick your Portrait during a window of time before the gates are opened for public sales. You will have plenty of time to select your favorite piece.
Collectors will receive:
• invite to all special events
• Oversoul portrait (1/1 on ETH L1)
• Optional physical (at the tour’s conclusion)
• Goodies and surprises TBD
There are thirty pieces that have already been pre-selected for Stewards, the holders of the first chapter of Influx: the Origins, and their sister piece in the second chapter, The Ordeals. Stewards have the exclusive option to buy their specific "character arc" piece, the third related portrait in the Oversoul. All portraits come with an optional physical, available for each collector after the last exhibition and festival in New York in June 2026. Any physicals not collected will remain in Apocalypse Studios' private collection.
The Oversoul project is focused on a slow and intimate campaign of getting the right pieces to the right collectors and in creating profound in-person experiences. But the Oversoul project is much more than finding homes for the art; it is meant to bring community together, spark conversation, and create festivals celebrating creativity and our shared humanity.
We invite you to join us by purchasing our presale token and participating in everything that follows.
ABOUT INFLUX
The Oversoul is Chapter Three of The Influx, which began production in 2021.
InFlux’s first chapter, The Origins, launched in September 2023, featuring 30 1/1s and 3 editions. Collectors include Artifaction, NorCal, Rhynotic, Art Pleb, Max Karlan, ComfyDevil, MoDA, Omz, AnimatedNFT and other notable collectors, and realized ~36 ETH in primary sales.
To create these artworks, the Studio developed an innovative digital animation method using inputs from physical artworks in combination with code-generated assets and 2D and 3D animation methods. We also wrote an original short film screenplay including all 33 characters, the first step toward a vision of expanding the Studio’s scope to include media production and “social entertainment.”
Chapter Two, the Ordeal, was released in October 2024 on Shape (L2). Totaling 156 still and animated 1/1s, the Studio partnered with YungWknd to build a novel mechanic that allowed collectors to choose their level of risk: for 0.1E, a collector could place a deposit on an artwork. For 0.3E, the collector could buy it instantly, overriding any deposits. For 1E, the collector could upgrade the still artwork to an animated one. Collectors include Blondie, Bonafidehan, XCOPY, Deeze, Mary Pat, Arsonic, djtsoi, and Parachica.
This collection took over the timeline for a week, radically expanded the collector base, shipped physicals to collectors in 4 countries, and realized ~43 ETH in primary sales.

THE TOUR
Be sure to follow us on X to hear more about the project — stories, connections, and relationships between characters, plus the larger intent and lore behind the project.
The Oversoul represents a community of multiple characters, roles, and sources of inspiration. It refers to the cryptoart community because we’re forging a new path for artists, and for the bleeding edge of cultural development; for new forms of expression and commentary. Art has always been at the forefront of culture and culture building. Art can say what nothing else can. Cryptoart, born out of the spirit of decentralization and permissionless culture, is the perfect incubator for cultural renewal.
To explore and highlight this potential, the Oversoul is going on tour, beginning in Marfa in October 2025. The tour will continue to Miami in December, and then Paris, Lisbon, London, and New York in the first half of 2026. Beginning in Marfa and Miami, the Studio will create small "festivals" where, against a back drop of art, music, and food, there can be meetings, conversations, dialogue, and spontaneous interactions arising in the moment about culture, mental health, chaos, good and evil, and connection.
THE PROCESS
Four years ago, we began the Influx as a series of panels laid out on the studio floor. Since then, we've created over 500 paintings for the Influx alone and developed a completely novel animation style to bring the Apocalypse world to life. Our team has grown from one to five members, working diligently to bring you the Oversoul.
Apoc's two daughters have contributed to the project from the very beginning. Talented artists in their own right, the project started when the youngest, Farranika, was still in high school. For her senior project, she made sense of the first brush strokes on the wooden boards, crafting detailed and realistic faces. Then Iren stepped in as executive co-producer, handling aspects of the painting and digital work.
ABOUT APOCALYPSE STUDIO
Born in Texas in 1971, Apocalypse has been making digital art since 1998.
Since entering the cryptoart scene in 2021, Apocalypse has made his art practice full-time, with collectors and exhibitions all over the globe. The studio’s primary medium, paintings brought to life with animation, appeals to the great historical painting tradition while also making use of apps, code, and cryptography.
The Studio’s conceptual basis can be expressed as “imagination as truth” — a philosophical and spiritual lineage that includes Ralph W. Emerson, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Rudolf Steiner, and Hilma af Klint. These individuals looked deeply into the underlying order of consciousness and the world, using imaginative pictures to accurately express their observations.
Apocalypse’s first major collection, the Meeings, achieved ~120 ETH in volume in primary sales. Subsequent releases – including InSights, Art Cards, and 6529 Meme cards – earned ~173 ETH for an estimated total of 293 ETH in four years.
The studio’s third major collection and most ambitious project to date, InFlux, is comprised of three chapters and 333 pieces: the Origins, the Ordeal and its final chapter, the Oversoul, with a first-of-its-kind unique piece.
The Apocalypse Studio also includes Iren, Apocalypse’s daughter, as production assistant and creative co-director.
